Why on-device matters

The cloud is a third party. Your sessions shouldn't be.

Every cloud transcription service is, by definition, a processor of your clients' protected information. Some are diligent. Some sell anonymised datasets to model trainers. None of them belong in a therapy room.

  • No data processor agreement to negotiate

    Recordings, transcripts, and summaries never reach a server we control. There's no third-party processor in the chain, because there's no third party.

  • No subpoena risk via vendor

    If we were storing your data, we'd be a target for legal discovery. We can't hand over what we never held.

  • Works on your existing supervision flow

    Export to text, send to your supervisor if you need to. The default state is: everything stays on your machine until you actively share it.

  • Honest about scope

    We don't claim HIPAA, GDPR, or NHS DSPT compliance, those are operational programmes, not features. We give you the technical foundation that supports them: on-device only, by design.

What about supervision recordings?

Same workflow. Record locally, export the transcript or summary, and share with your supervisor through whatever channel you already use. Otterlog never decides for you what's shared and what isn't.

Can I delete a session permanently?

Yes. Recordings, transcripts, and summaries are files on your computer. Move them to the bin, empty the bin, and they're gone. We have no copy. For higher-assurance deletion, use FileVault on Mac or BitLocker on Windows; deleting from an encrypted volume is cryptographically permanent.

Will it work with my existing case-note software?

Otterlog exports plain text, Markdown, and SRT. Anything that takes a text paste, paste, or a file import, takes Otterlog output. We don't integrate directly with practice-management EHRs in v1; if that's a hard requirement for you, get in touch.
