What's the catch on privacy?

There isn't one. Recordings, transcripts, and summaries never leave your computer. The app makes three network calls in total: license check, update check, and model download. All listed above, all reproducible with Little Snitch (Mac) or Wireshark (Mac & Windows).

Do I need to be online?

No. After first-time setup (model download), Otterlog works fully offline. Your license re-checks every 7 days, but there's a grace window if you're disconnected.

Can I use this for client or patient work?

We don't make legal compliance claims (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) on your behalf. What we can tell you: recordings never leave your computer, so the on-device processing model fits the spirit of most professional confidentiality rules. Check with your professional body if in doubt.

How big is the model download?

About 4 GB on first run. Stored locally. Never re-downloaded unless you delete it.

Is the Windows version the same as Mac?

Yes. Otterlog ships on Mac and Windows simultaneously with feature parity. Same recording, transcription, summarisation, and search, running fully on-device on either platform.
